Engineering Recruitment – Market Commentary – April 2024
2024 has commenced with an increase of opportunities in permanent engineering recruitment and we remain positive about the ongoing demand for talented engineering, manufacturing & technology professionals across Australia. We currently have an increasing requirement from our clients to work on hard-to-fill roles and we are hearing more and more cases where our clients are highly frustrated with their own unfruitful searches.
Building Services
The building services market is booming and we have mechanical and electrical positions to fill in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Townsville. This will be an ongoing need so if you are interested in a new role with better remuneration please call us. In addition, we have a role for an Electrical Engineer with hazardous areas electrical and controls systems development expertise.
Engineering & Manufacturing Operations
While the last quarter of 2023 saw activity slowing down, the start of the second quarter of 2024 is showing signs of improvement. Activity is on the rise, with employers looking to fill voids and candidates searching for new opportunities. The roles and the industries are quite varied, with roles ranging from Technical Sales People through to Principal and Chief Engineers. One area that continues to evolve is remuneration. In a candidate short market, employers are willing to pay top dollar in an effort to secure the best talent available. This also appears to be shifting the median, and thus what ‘X’ amount of dollars secured a year or two ago, is no longer relevant. We anticipate that this will continue to evolve over the next year.
Technology
As we enter the second quarter of 2024, we are seeing that the engineering technology job market is starting to pick up. Despite there being many candidates on the job market seeking roles currently, it’s a great time to be a candidate. If you are seeking a new role, now is the time to prepare well for your upcoming interviews. Activities from reviewing and updating your CVs to picking relevant examples to relate at your imminent interviews are valuable. The better prepared you are, the more edge you will have to stand out as a great candidate for your chosen role.
